Backgammon Action > Backgammon Variants
Not many people know that there are many backgammon variants, most of which use the same rules as in the standard backgammon. Since backgammon has been around for hundred of years, the game has created many variations. Some variants can be played with fewer checkers or alternate setups. Some of the common backgammon variants are Hypergammon and Nackgammon. In a Hypergammon game, only three checkers per side are played and uses the same rules as in standard backgammon games. Another backgammon variant is the Nackgammon which was invented by Nick "Nack" Ballard. This backgammon game still uses the same rules as standard backgammon. The only difference is the starting position. There are still other backgammon variants, but these two are the most well-known. You can even enjoy these two and other variants of backgammon online.
