Backgammon Board > How To Set Up A Backgammon Board
The instructions on how to set up a backgammon board is pretty simple. If you already have a backgammon set, then you can start by opening the board and placing it on a flat surface in front of you. Also check if you have a complete set as listed on the instruction sheet that usually comes with the set. There should be 30 checkers in total, two sets of 15 and most commonly of black and white colors. The board is separated into two tables by a bar and there would be triangles which we call points, for each table. So this is how you set up a backgammon board. You label the points 1 to 24 in a clockwise direction, starting with the farthest triangle from the lower right corner that's facing you. It's up to you who decides who gets to play backgammon with black or white checkers. So after you've numbered the points, using your color checkers first, put 2 checkers on point 24. Then position five checkers on point 13 and three on point 8. Lastly, put five checkers on point 6. Once you're the done with that, you can get your opponent to position his set of checkers in the same pattern opposite yours. And now that you know how to set up a backgammon board, you can now get the dice rolling and enjoy playing.
