Backgammon is a race game for two players. A player can either win the game by advancing forward, or wait for a shot to win the game. It is actually easy to learn the game, but it is more difficult to master different advanced backgammon strategies. Learning is only the first step. You must learn first the basic rules in playing the classic or online backgammon game. When you have the confidence of your skills, then it is time to move on to comprehending and mastering the advanced strategies. If an advanced backgammon player thinks he has mastered his strategy, time for him to test it and join backgammon tournaments. There are actually many strategies that a player can use to beat his opponent. Two advanced backgammon strategies that can be used are the blitz and the holding game. A player using the blitz strategy needs to close out his home board as quickly as he can and needs to keep their opponent on the bar. A player using the holding game must build his board while keeping a point high on his opponent's board. Additional strategies that a backgammon online player can use are the Crawford Rule and the Jacoby Rule.
